Troubleshooting Error Message When Posting
If you or your students have a problem when posting to a discussion board forum or thread you get an "Error: Fail to save message" pop-up window when you try to post or save a post, here is the cause and the solution.
One or more students in your course are having trouble receiving email in their Drexel email inbox because they are out of space or over quota. These same students are subscribing by email to the forum or thread.
Bb Learn gets notified by our Drexel email that the email to these one or a few students didn't go through (everyone else will get it), it generates this vague error message. (Drexel ITG, the central office for Bb Learn, is working with Blackboard on improving on how failed email gets handled by Bb Learn.)

If you have this problem, here is what to do.
1. Check to see if your discussion board response was still posted.
(a) Click "OK" at the prompt, then click "Cancel" on the message, refresh/reload the webpage where you posted the response, and look for your response.
2. If you need to re-post the same response right away, or post another response right away, try disabling the subscription feature in the discussion board forum, and then posting or reposting your discussion board response.
(a) The "Disable Subscriptions in a Forum" section of the webpage below explains how to disable the subscription feature in a discussion board forum.

1. The link above will take you directly to the "Disable Subscriptions in a Forum" section of the webpage.
(b) Then try to post or repost a response.
3. Now, post an announcement, and/or something in the discussion board, telling your students to please check their Drexel email inboxes, make sure they can receive email, and that they are not at quota or out of space in their Drexel email inbox.
(a) Also tell your students that if they are out of space or at quota, they should delete email, and empty their trash, spam and/or junk folders.
(b) Also tell your students that if they have trouble making room in their Drexel email inbox, or if they have some other problem receiving email there, they should contact the DU IT Accounts Office at 215-895-2020 or accounts@drexel.edu. (DU IT was known as IRT.)
4. If for some reason, you need to find out exactly who cannot receive email, follow the instructions at the webpage below, specifically the section on if you have logged out and are having problems sending email from Bb Learn.
