All Drexel students, staff, and faculty can try a non-trial free version of Intellij by doing the following.
Written Instructions
Drexel instructors and students can get a free license for JetBrains, so long as they use their userid@drexel.edu email address (example: mjg88@drexel.edu ).
You have to do some clicking & registering.
Make sure you keep using your @drexel.edu address when you do so.
Here's how.
- Scroll down at link below, to find and click "For Students and Teachers."
https://www.jetbrains.com/community/education/#students - Then scroll down further on the next page to...
"Get free access to all developer tools from JetBrains!"
and click "Apply now." - Then you'll need to agree to some Terms of Use at various points.
I would NOT sign up for notifications about products (uncheck boxes). - After that, fill in the form with your @drexel.edu address and other info.
- You are a Computer Science or Engineering student, as you're taking a programming course or teaching it, or select Instructor.
- Once you submit that form, you'll get an email in your @drexel.edu email inbox in Outlook.
- Click the link in the email.
- Register or create a new account using your @drexel.edu account, and make a password
(Save it somewhere, password manager, browser, etc.)
Do NOT login with Google or Facebook or Git etc. - Use your Drexel account.
Once you created your account, you should have onscreen instructions to login and/or get from software. - At some point, you'll see a Download link, AND your license key for Intellij IDEA.
