How to Turn on OneDrive's Background Syncing for Desktop and Documents

  1. Select the OneDrive cloud icon in your notification area (might need to click ^ first, near date/time in lower right).
  2. Select the OneDrive Settings icon, then Settings.
  3. Go to the Sync and backup tab.
  4. Then select Manage backup.
  5. Turn on the toggle for a specific folder if you want to turn backup.
    1. Options are usually Desktop and Documents, sometimes Pictures too.
  6. Select Save changes.

Also, if the OneDrive icon is not visible somewhere near date/time in lower right, or there's a grayed out cloud, just search for it in the search bar at the bottom of your screen. Then open OneDrive, then do the steps above.
