Outlook or Drexel Email -- Email Disappeared or Cannot Find

If you saw an email in your Outlook email, but the email disappeared as you were looking at it, or you can't find it after searching, here is what to do:

FIRST, an IMPORTANT NOTE.  We don't know the nature of the email you are looking for, but there are FREQUENT SCAMS from fraudsters spoofing faculty and staff emails or spoofing organization/business emails offering research money or $500/week (or other dollar amount) jobs.  Do NOT respond directly to such emails.  Instead, ask a faculty or staff member, and do so by looking on the official Drexel website for their actual contact information.  Even then, tread carefully, as accounts can be compromised. ONLY if you feel that this was a legitimate email should you proceed with the rest of the steps on this page.

SECOND, of course, search your Junk Mail or Spam or Deleted Items or Trash folders specifically.  Search your Sent mail folder specifically as well.  Search all other folders as well using Outlook's search.  Try different keywords and phrases.

If that fails, then THIRD, go in web Outlook at https://outlook.office.com and go to your Deleted Items, and look for a link that will send you to where your Deleted Items go when they are deleted.  These items deleted from Deleted Items are kept for a limited period of time before they are deleted completely.  You won't be able to search this area well, but you can scroll up or down and browse.  You may have to do a lot of manual scrolling here.

FOURTH, if all of the above fails as well, send a completely new email to mailabuse@drexel.edu and ask there, providing as many details as possible about the missing email.  NOTE!!  This email could have been identified or misidentified as DANGEROUS phishing or spam and pulled out of your email completely.  AGAIN, there are frequent scams from fraudsters spoofing faculty and staff emails or spoofing organization/business emails offering research money or $500/week (or other dollar amount) jobs. We've had others in past years report similar Outlook behavior to similar scam emails.

If you do not hear from mailabuse in a few days, email consult@drexel.edu with a completely new email.

We at Drexel CCI have now way to access to your email account, nor anyway to find or restore your deleted emails.  We do not have any additional information about where such emails would go, if not in junk/spam, deleted, another email folder, or the place above where deleted Items go.

That said, reach out to ihelp@drexel.edu or respond to our servicedesk@drexel.edu reply, if you have any further questions, you think we can assist you with.
